General Who we are? DiroDi is an Australian brand that designs and supplies products in e-mobility sector including but not limited to electric bikes and electric scooters. We are determined to be a world-class brand relying on our vision and development plans. We strongly believe that advances in lithium battery technologies will profoundly change the way we travel, exercise, entertain and in general live. We wanted to be a part of this exiting evolution and that is why DiroDi was born. What makes DiroDi different from other brands? DiroDi believes its products should have four features together: To be reliable, comfortable, stylish and affordable. These are DiroDi’s promises. We’d rather close down our business than break our word. DiroDi was born when we realized most products in the market aren’t holding these features all together. There are products that are reliable and stylish but not affordable. Likewise we have affordable products that do not live up to the expectations in terms of quality, comfort and style. So, how can we offer electric bikes and electric scooters that are stylish, reliable and comfortable at affordable prices? Well, this is the magic of direct to customer online sales business model. You pay for the product itself not for the rent of our fancy show room or the 6 figure salary of our sales person. This has enabled DiroDi to offer Australia’s best scooters and ebikes online. Having said all that, we understand our products aren’t entirely flawless and to be honest we have never been fully satisfied with any of our products. That’s why we always keep improving them. Continuous improvement is our obsession at DiroDi. What’s different about an e-bike and a regular bike servicing? There is no difference. Since electric parts of an e-bike do not require any routine maintenance, servicing an e-bike isn’t any different from servicing of a regular bike. Are women and men’s electric bikes different? Not anymore. Some people may think that a bike with a step-over frame is more suitable for men and one with a step-through frame works best for women. However, this idea is now outdated and no longer applicable. In fact, there is no such thing as women’s or men’s bike. Each frame type has its own strengths and weaknesses.Let’s admit that e-bikes are symbols of modernity. So why not let go of old stereotypes and freely choose your favourite bike based on your own personal preferences. Can you get any exercise out of an e-bike? As strange as it may seem, e-bikes can provide a great workout experience. Believe it or not, an e-bike ride can be even more vigorous than a ride on a regular bike, simply because people tend to ride much longer on e-bikes! Normally, depending on the motor assistance level, an e-bike rider can get as much exercise as they wish without getting exhausted.Evidence shows that e-bikes are better options for losing weight. What happens is while riding a regular bike you might feel like you’re burning out over a sharp slope and you will possibly break off cycling before long. In such cases, e-bikes can give you assistance to continue cycling while storing energy on steep hills, and start the workout over again once fresh. Are your e-bikes and e-scooters waterproof? Can I ride in the rain? Our electric bikes and electric scooters are water resistant, you can ride them in the rain but it doesn’t mean that they can be submerged under water. We also suggest to never use a pressure hose or a jet power washer to wash your ebike/scooter. Do I need a license to ride an electric bike? No you don’t need a license provided that your bike follows the Australian road legality standards. How do I secure my bike from theft? Fingers crossed, good days are awaiting you and your two-wheeler but you should be cautious when it comes to protecting your valuable ebike. We strongly advise that you invest in buying a good lock. What makes sense is that you buy a lock worth around 7% of your bike’s price. We do not recommend chain or cable locks, which can be easily cut. However U-Locks are highly recommended. If your bike is equipped with wheel lock, we always suggest to use both the wheel lock and a U lock at the same time to secure it even better. The good news is by paying 5 to 7 percent of your bike’s total price, you can get your e-bike insured against theft. You could also consult your home content insurance provider and add your bike to your home content list. One more thing you can consider is using a GPS tracking system installed to easily track the bike in case of theft. Which frame type should I get: Step-over electric bike or Step-through electric bike? As opposed to step-over electric bikes, step-through electric bikes don’t have the top bar. Not having a top bar makes it much easier to get on and off the bike. On the other hand, step-through bikes usually have less max load capacity and are sometimes a bit heavier, although the little extra weight is negligible on electric bikes where you have assistance from the motor. Generally, if you are included in any of the groups of riders below, step-through bikes might be a better choice for you:If you commute daily in your formal attireIf you are usually dressed up in skirts, dresses or any outfit of this kindIf you are interested in casual but not speedy ridesIf you are a fan of upright riding positionIf you have to repeatedly mount and dismount the bike for different reasons like delivery riders, postmen and etc. Overall, step-through bikes are the best fit for rides with a lot of stops on the way.If you and your family all intend to get a ride from it occasionally. The structure of the frame allows everyone with different heights and physical conditions to enjoy yourself and have a ball. It is true that anyone, tall or short, can easily get off the saddle to step on ground whenever they lose balance. In bikes with a top tube this can be a nightmare for shorter people.Seniors and those suffering from knee pain or any other limited agilityCity riders who are unlikely to get off-road or get on steep hills or any tricky terrainOn the other had while step-through bikes definitely work for many riders, they are not for everyone. For example, if you are a cyclist with a passion for speed and if you are going to ride off-road mostly, if you are planning on going on long rides without stopping, if you’re a heavy rider looking for something light weight or handy to carry around, and finally, if you need attachments like water bottle or bag holders on your bike frame, most probably you should not consider step-through bikes because that is not what they are made for. Which bike handlebar types should I get? First of all, you need to know what each handlebar type is actually for. There are two main types: Straight and Curved. The straight handlebars allow you to lean forward and the curved handlebars help you maintain an upright sitting position. You might be thinking: Why would anyone want to be leaning forward? The thing is forward siting position helps you have more control on your ride, go faster and take a bend faster. But clearly, it leaves more pressure on your back and gets uncomfortable for long ride.Meanwhile, upright sitting position offers you the joy of a more comfortable ride with less pressure on your back muscles. But the downside is you have less control on your bike while speeding or taking corners. So, as always, it is a matter of personal taste. If you do professional riding or take an interest in speeding you need to go for the straight handlebars and if you prefer a more comfortable ride, curved handlebars are the one for you. Can I ride an electric bike without motor assistance? That’s a very common question. Riding an e-bike without motor assistance is possible. But the question should be: How difficult will it be to pedal? You can switch the motor off and ride it like a regular bike but keep in mind that riding an e-bike without motor assistance requires more effort than riding a regular bike. After all, electric bikes are heavier and you will have some drag from the switched off motor as well. But if you are interested to know whether it is possible or not anyway, the answer is YES, it is totally possible and doesn’t damage your bike.Chances are you want to get the feeling of a regular bike ride once in a while. In that case, instead of turning off the motor, our advice is to put the motor assistance level on “the lowest”, which merely compensates for extra weight of the bike and makes your ride very similar to a ride on a regular bike. How long is the battery life? DiroDi uses premium A+ grade battery cells. Our batteries life is 500 to 1000 recharge cycles or between 2 to 4 years (whichever happens first). So even if you use your bike rarely, after 3-4 years, you should get a replacement battery regardless of how many recharge cycles your battery has gone through. How can I increase the battery life on my electric bike or electric scooter? You don’t need to worry much about it. All DiroDi batteries come with an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) whose job is to extend battery life to the longest possible. However, there are some routines you can do to further prolong your battery life.1- Do not leave your battery flat. The moment you realize the battery has run low, recharge it as soon as possible.2- Do not leave the battery on charge for a few days. It is always better to unplug it once it is fully charged. 3- If you don’t need to use the max range of your bike, try to keep your battery charge between 20% to 80%. Overall, if you maintain your battery level somewhere between 20 to 80 percent (instead of zero to 100) your battery’s life will be almost doubled.4- And last but not least, do not leave the battery in extreme weather conditions be it too cold or too hot. What are the laws regarding e-bikes in Australia? It is always better to refer to your local state government website for latest laws regarding the use of electric bikes. However, main criteria to consider an electric bike a road legal electric bike in Australia are: 1- The motor power should not exceed 250W.2- Max pedal assist speed should be 25 km / h meaning if the speed of the bike exceeds 25 km / h the motor should cut off. If an electric bike does not meet the required specifications and standards, it can only be ridden on off-road or in private property. Before you order Is the shipment free of charge? For each of our bike, if you check the sizing guideline, the rider’s height range is stated. If you have access to a bike, it’s better to put the saddle in the same height and ensure the saddle height is suitable for you. But as we always say, if you come across any confusions about the measurement, you can get in touch with us and we will help you with it. Do you offer bulk or corporate order? Yes, we do.
